Board Member Induction

Board Member Induction has 3 elements that support members in their first 6 months in post.
These are outlined below. If you have any questions on induction contact your Board Secretary.

Public Appointments - On Board

The Public Appointments team at the Scottish Government have developed a board induction workshop and handbook for newly appointed board members. This workshop builds on the induction process you receive in your local board. The workshops highlight Scottish Ministers’ expectations and provides the opportunity to network with other newly appointed board members.

The workshops are run up to three times a year, ensuring that every newly appointed board member has the opportunity to participate within six months of their appointment start date.

For more information on the workshops, contact your Board Secretary or Susanne McLaughlin of the Public Appointments Team at PublicBodiesUnitMailbox@gov.scot

National Induction

National Induction is run through the Board Development Team at NHS Education for Scotland.

They offer a range of resources available on the TURAS Learn site, virtual induction sessions with colleagues across all Boards and the opportunity to be mentored by experienced Non-Executives or Chairs.

For Further information and to sign up to the virtual sessions visit Board Development on TURAS.

Local Induction

All new Board Members will receive a tailored local induction, based on a new standard template (see below) which launched in November 2019 under DL(2019)21.
